Description
The Euthazen consists of:
A portable electrical control unit capable of delivering a 300-Volt electric current for an adjustable duration using a timer.
A clamp equipped with two electrodes allowing the electric current to be applied during the two successive phases of anesthesia and euthanasia.
The pig euthanasia protocol is carried out in two successive phases:
– Anesthesia: application of a 300-Volt current to the pig’s temples for a duration defined according to the animal’s weight. The pig becomes unconscious within the second the current is applied.
– Euthanasia: application of the electrodes to the heart area in order to deliver a current of the same voltage and with the same predefined duration.
